Reserve stock before updating availability

Start with the stock reservation rule

When several channels share stock, two customers can order the last available unit before an update reaches every store. Decide when an order reserves stock and how cancellations release it. Apply the rule consistently across your connected channels.

Use buffers deliberately

A stock buffer can reduce the chance of selling units that are already reserved or unavailable. Set it based on actual stock accuracy, demand, and update delays. Review the buffer regularly; setting it too high can hide sellable inventory.

Treat sync failures as operational work

Centralization reduces duplicate effort, but integrations still need monitoring. Assign someone to review failed updates, mismatched listings, and unexpected balances. Pair the system with regular physical counts and a clear adjustment process.

Put these ideas to work.
